Dear Parents,
As this semester comes to a close, I would like to take a moment to express my sincere gratitude for your continued trust, partnership, and support. In every child's learning journey, the steady presence of family is not only important — it is foundational.
Looking back over this semester, I am deeply encouraged by what we have seen in our students. Their growth has not come from a single moment, but from daily consistency, effort, and perseverance. Behind every step forward, there has also been your quiet support at home, and for that, we are truly grateful. This reflection can be summarized in four words that continue to shape our community: Gratitude, Reverence, Service, and Growth.
1. Gratitude
We are grateful to God for His continued guidance throughout this semester, and we are grateful to every family for walking this journey with us. It is through the shared commitment of home and school that our students are able to learn and grow in a stable, consistent environment.
This semester's IXL English and Math assessments once again showed overall progress compared to the previous semester. Some students demonstrated significant improvement, while others progressed more gradually but steadily. What encourages us most is not only the scores themselves, but the consistency we see over time.
In our Learning Center sessions, we also observed meaningful changes: more students are now willing to persist when facing difficulty. Instead of stopping when they feel stuck, they are learning to think again, try again, and complete what they begin.
These are not isolated results of a single test or lesson. They are the fruit of sustained effort across an entire semester — supported by teachers, students, and families working together.
2. Reverence
Each child is uniquely created, with their own pace, strengths, and calling. Education is not about comparison, nor about rushing outcomes. It is about faithfully accompanying each child as they grow into who they are meant to become.
Time is one of the most precious gifts entrusted to us. How it is used today gradually shapes who we become tomorrow. To be attentive in class is an attitude. To think carefully is a capacity. To complete tasks faithfully is responsibility. To live with intentionality is maturity.
We are especially encouraged this semester by the learning culture that has formed: there have been very few cases of lateness; students attend classes on time, complete assignments responsibly, and engage seriously in assessments. Learning has become more focused, and classrooms have become more intentional. When teachers teach with seriousness and students learn with focus, learning time becomes meaningful rather than wasted. This shared respect for learning time is one of the clearest signs of a healthy educational environment.
"Teach us to number our days, that we may gain a heart of wisdom." — Psalm 90:12
Every time I observe the classroom learning atmosphere and the way teachers and students engage with each other, I am filled with both gratitude and reverence. It is clear to us that what we are seeing is not merely the result of management or structure, but the genuine sign of growth taking place in real time. This is a defining characteristic of Joy Academy Online — where disciplined teaching and focused learning, mutual respect, and sincere engagement naturally shape a culture of seriousness, clarity, and steady progress.
3. Service
In group learning, we have seen students beginning to support one another more intentionally. They remind each other, cooperate in class, and contribute positively to the learning environment. This is the beginning of service — not something distant in the future, but something practiced in daily life now.
"Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others." — 1 Peter 4:10
We also encourage families to extend this learning into the home during the summer. Simple responsibilities — helping with household tasks, caring for siblings, supporting parents or elders — are powerful ways to cultivate character. Small acts of service gradually shape a person who is responsible, considerate, and willing to give.
4. Growth
Growth is never instant. It is the result of consistent daily formation.
This May, I had the opportunity to visit Los Angeles and reconnect with two former students. Diana has successfully graduated from Biola University and has begun her internship. John Lin has completed his first year at UCI with excellent academic performance and is now serving as a research volunteer in a university lab. Seeing their journeys reminded me that growth is long-term. The students we teach today are on a similar path. Their present diligence is quietly shaping their future possibilities.
"Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved." — 2 Timothy 2:15
Growth is not only academic progress. It is also the development of responsibility, direction, and perseverance.
Summer Blessings
Dear parents, thank you for your companionship and trust throughout this semester.
As we enter the summer break, we encourage students — and also families — to hold three simple rhythms: Rest well, and continue reading. Stay curious, and keep learning. Enjoy life, and continue growing.
During the holiday, teachers have also assigned some summer learning tasks to help you maintain your progress. Some of you will also continue with summer assignments or IELTS preparation. May this break not only refresh your body, but also renew your mind and strengthen your direction.
May God bless your family this summer. May He guard your hearts and minds, and lead each of you into peace, joy, and continued growth in truth.
